Virginio Girardi

Feb 28th 1936 — Jun 18th 2022 (86 years)

Biography

Surrounded by his family, Virginio Girardi passed away at his home in his 86th year. He will be forever remembered by his devoted wife of 54 years, Maria Girardi, daughter Alida Gregory Girardi (Mark), son Claudio Girardi (Tania), grandchildren Jonathan Gregory, Coraline Gregory, Nolan Girardi and Sienna Girardi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Virginia Girardi, and his sister, Silvana Lamberti.

As a young man, Virginio moved to Ontario from his beloved Sacile, Italy. Working in construction, an electrician by trade, he was known by those around him for his strong work ethic, kind heart, honest and generous nature. He was strong-willed and determined throughout his life and even in his final days. He had a quiet and thoughtful disposition and loved nothing more than playing the piano, reading great books and watching classic films.

He loved to share his life stories with his grandchildren and they will always have fond memories of their time together. He shared his love of classical music and the piano, poetry, literature, chess and soccer. His interest in math and astronomy allowed him to spend many of his spare moments tutoring and mentoring his grandchildren in these studies. He would often recite a little poem or song to cheer their day.

Respecting Virginio's wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. We will always hold him in our hearts and think of him often in his little Swiss valley with rolling green hills.
