Biography

“Neither fire, nor wind, birth, nor death can erase our good deeds.”
- Buddha-

Our hearts are heavy with the passing of our beloved Husband, Dad and Brother, on January 13th, 2024 after a health battle of 4 years.

Simon was born in Hong Kong and at a young age travelled across the world, all by himself and landed in Montreal Canada, not knowing one word of English. He learned how to speak French, followed by English and soon after he became a Canadian Citizen. He next arrived in Hamilton, Ontario to work and it It was there that he met his wife Debi, when a true, deep love of 52 years was born. He called his wife and his daughter, Reign (his pride and joy), the loves of his life.

Simon enjoyed the simple things in life, having a good meal, enjoying a Guinness once and awhile, occasionally smoking a cigar, laughing with friends but most importantly spending time with his family, he was truly a family man. His family was everything to him!

His passions were his fitness and riding his Harleys and Vespa. He worked out every single day and maintaining good health was a top priority. His participation and influence in the health and fitness field was way ahead of it’s time and he obtained great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and expertise, helping others to achieve optimal health. He was called the “Body Man”. He enjoyed fashion too, always trendy and stylish.
And he loved music - especially Motown and Soul!

Simon was a hands-on Dad from the time Reign was born and he enjoyed many activities with his daughter. Her daily fitness is a testament to his influence on her at a very young age. Something else they enjoyed together was visiting the tattoo parlour and talking about motorcycles and car racing. He was the “cool” dad who rode his daughter to her gigs on the back of his Harley. And he was so proud of her when she passed the bar exams, he told her this everyday until he took his last breath.

He never fit the norm, always alternative and forward thinking, open-minded, and wise. He was also very funny and witty too, well liked by everyone who met him. He accepted everyone, he was always very tolerant and understanding. His opinion and perspective on life was of great value, not only to his family but to those who met him. He was interesting to talk with and could carry on conversations with everyone, young and old. He held great respect and kindness for others and he had a heart of gold. Not just to his family but to anyone who came to know him. He always would go out of his way to help others, even if just to help the elderly to carry their groceries up the stairs.

Right until the very end Simon believed in miracles and held out a lot of hope but sadly he succumbed to his illness. There is no doubt he fought the toughest battle of his life. He has left behind a huge legacy of love. We hold dear the many great experiences and adventures we shared throughout our 52 years together. He is not defined by his illness but for the quality and enjoyment of the life we shared. For this we are blessed and grateful. He is now at peace and released from his suffering. His love for us and ours for him will never die. We are honoured to call him Husband, Dad and Brother.

We are so grateful for his medical team in LHSC, London, Ontario Canada. Their care was with kindness and love and we will forever be grateful for this.
