Sheila passed away suddenly at her residence in Kanata, Ontario on September 16, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, William Whaley and Margaret Whaley (nee Suffron), as well as her niece Jessica Whaley and sister-in-law Wanda Whaley (nee Kennel). Sheila is survived by her siblings, Caroline, Robert (Marilyn), Bruce (the late Wanda Kennel), James (Darlene), Janet (Brian Dowdall), Jeffrey (Ursula), Heather (Gary Cooper) and Rosemary (Paul Cowie), as well as 14 nieces and nephews, and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sheila grew up near Oxford Mills, Ontario, attending school at Oxford Mills and Kemptville. She moved later to Rideau Ferry with her family. As a girl she was a great walker and a forager of wild asparagus, leeks, raspberries and blackberries. In later life she was a reader, a collector of recipes, a quilter, knitter, and addict of TV soaps. She had a unique sense of humour and liked to entertain with songs of her own composing that tickled her funny bone. She loved cats, Chinese food and sweet treats. And her Bible was well-read.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Hope Living in Kanata, who provided a safe and caring place of residence for Sheila over the past 6 years.
