Biography

It is with heavy hearts that we announce on May 29th, 2023, our beautiful mother Patricia Margaret Vemb joined the angels. Although our hearts are heavy, we know that her place in heaven was waiting for her. She earned her wings all through her life.

Patricia (Pat) was born on December 15th, 1931, in London, England, to her parents, Margaret and Edward Akers. She married the late Henry (Jack) Jackson, and together they had four children, Christopher (Terry), Peter (Marie), Jenny Vetere (Jim) and Mark; Grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Laura, Debbie, Matt, Cari, Gregory, Graham, and Courtney; Great Grandchildren Katie, Kiera, Kara, Ben, Alex, Alysha, Maddison, Sofia, Nathan, Michael, Bianca, Jackson, Dylan, Liam and Vivienne and Great Great Granddaughters Claire and Olivia. Patricia is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Bittle (Robert) and her daughter Robin, she was predeceased by 2 older brothers, Edward (Ted) Akers and Sidney Moxon, leaving her numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was a loving and caring mother, who was devoted to her children and family. She made certain that her children had full and happy childhoods, including birthday parties, Guy Fawkes, and Hallowe’en celebrations, and would always invite the neighborhood children. We have beautiful memories of long bike rides through the English countryside and camping at Tiptree Strawberry Farm. Many of these times were shared with her best friend Iris Murdoch and her family, who she missed greatly when she left England, leaving behind numerous cousins and other family members.

Patricia and her family moved to Canada in 1971, with her 2nd Husband Len. Pat 1st worked at Simpsons and later for many years at the CIBC, which fit well with her talent in Arithmetic. Pat loved spending time at her summer trailer at Musselman’s Lake, especially when accompanied by her husband, the late John Vemb. Pat had a great love for animals, and for much of her life enjoyed having dogs and cats. Pat also had a talent for crafts including Knitting, Sewing, and making cards for her family & friends to celebrate their special occasions.
