Pamela Gorringe

Nov 29th 1966 — Nov 10th 2022 (55 years)

On November 10, 2022, Pamela (Pam) Lee Gorringe passed away peacefully at the VG Hospital, Halifax, NS after a short but courageous battle against cancer.
Born in Middleton, NS on November 29th , 1966, Pam was the daughter of Bea and Ernie Gorringe. After attending elementary schools in both Chatham NB and Kingston, NS, Pam went to high school at West Kings in Auburn NS. She graduated from the Yarmouth School of Nursing in 1986. She began her career in Fort Vermillion, Alberta but returned to Kentville, NS, prior to moving to Halifax. While in Halifax, she attended the University of Saskatoon and obtained her Bachelor of Nursing degree while continuing her career as a registered nurse. Although Pam spent the majority of her adult life in Halifax, NS, she always considered herself a “Valley Girl”.
Prior to her retirement, Pam worked primarily in the ICU and the Cancer Centre at the VG Hospital, Halifax, NS. When the call came out for people to staff COVID-19 clinics, Pam came out of retirement to vaccinate people. To quote her “it was the right thing to do”.
She enjoyed life and her interests were vast and varied. She loved to travel, played the saxophone, curled, sewed, gardened, perfected being a pet parent to her cat, Gus, and was the ideal companion for any adventure. Both professionally and personally, Pam was known for being hard working, caring, and loyal; she was always there to support anyone who needed it. Pam was truly one in a million and will be missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Pam is survived by her brother Gary and his wife Angela; nephews Ryan, Nathan, and Ben; aunts Laura Williams, Evelyn Gorringe, and Violet Gorringe; several cousins and a large circle of immensely caring and supportive friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Aurora North End Parish Church, 5666 Sebastian Street, Halifax, NS.

Donations in her memory can be made to Brain Cancer Research, Bide Awhile Animal Shelter ( https://bideawhile.org ) or any charity of the donor’s choice.
