Biography

Omar Charles Oman passed away on April 10, 2024 at the age of 72. He died peacefully with his family by his side in Saskatoon, SK. Omar leaves to cherish his memory his wife Georgina Neely, his children Kelly (Jeff Fader) Oman, Becky (Ross) Harmel, Chris (Tracy) Oman, Tim (Jolene) Oman, 10 grandchildren, his brother John Oman and John’s family. Omar was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Oman. Omar was born on November 2, 1951 in Swift Current. As a child, he was privileged to attend Oman School, which was built on land donated to the city by his great grandparents. He enjoyed playing catch and riding horses with his beloved father, Charles. As a young man, he worked at Frontier Esso and Rittinger’s Menswear in Swift Current. He loved all sports and was active in karate, hockey, baseball, fastball and racquetball. In February 1975, Omar joined the RCMP and served in various locations in Saskatchewan. A highlight of his service was chauffeuring Queen Elizabeth ll and Prince Philip during their visit to Saskatchewan in 1987. Omar retired in September 2010 and said he enjoyed every posting and every day of his service. Retirement allowed time to indulge in many travel opportunities. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his infectious smile and his caring disposition. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Coast Hotel in Swift Current on Saturday, May 4 at 2:30 pm.
