Biography

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marlene Connell on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the young age of 73.


Marlene was predeceased by her parents John and Magdalene Wolbaum; her brothers Tony, Bert and Bernie; and her sisters Jennie and Flo.


Marlene is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Robert (Sarah); grandchildren Anthony, Nelson and Katie; great-grandchild Jayce who was her pride and joy; by Sheila Menard, mother of Anthony, Nelson and Katie; as well as Robert's dad Lance Connell. Marlene is also survived by her 12 sisters Terry (Stan) Nowokowski, Helen Moffatt, Bernice McElree, Eileen (Kevin) Klippert, Gloria (Butch) Jones, Rose (Duane) McKenzie, Lorraine (Tony) Stulberg, Gaylene (Wilf) Knelson, Sharon Wolbaum, Brenda (Daun) Wolbaum, Sandi (Geordie) Wolbaum and Lorna Nagy; her 5 brothers Ernie Wolbaum, Ken (Arlene) Wolbaum, Ron (Donna) Wolbaum, Cliff Wolbaum and Harvey Wolbaum; and by numerous nieces and nephews.


Marlene loved playing poker, card games, bingo, crib, bridge, slow pitch (at which she was an excellent pitcher), doing needle point, cross stitch and sewing. One of her favourite sayings was “Bite Me". She also had a great right hook. Throughout her life, Marlene worked at the Regina General Hospital, Brigden's Printing and she owned her own house cleaning business.


We want to thank the staff at Pasqua Hospital 4th Floor Compassionate Care and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Unit 2-6 for their excellent care of Marlene.


Cremation took place on March 7, 2024.


A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
