Maria immigrated to Canada in 1975 along with her husband Carlos and son Carlos Jr. She quickly adapted to life in Canada and settled in Regina Saskatchewan. After a brief period she started work at Northern Telecom and after the plant closed she found employment with Modern Building Services as well as commercial building services. She suffered a back injury that prevented her from working afterwards. Thanks to her husband's care she was able to live a wonderful life in Canada. Her husband Carlos passed away in 2000 however Maria was a strong woman that made due however she could while maintaining a home by herself. In May 2022 she was diagnosed with cancer, fought valiantly however, due to complications on November 5, 2022 she passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the General Hospital.
Maria was a dedicated mother to Carlos Jr. a loving sister to Yoise and Margarita aunt to her three nieces Joyce, Romina and Vanessa as well as her three nephews, Herman, Mitchell and Juan Andres. She was a caring grandmother to her four grandsons Andrew, Charlie, Patrick and Dallas. A special thank you to Macarena, Ling , Brenda and Carmen for their wonderful care of Maria in her time of need as well as many other close friends that provided their time and assistance when needed. Also a special thank you to the staff of Santa Maria care home and the General Hospital MICU for their wonderful care. Maria will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
