It is with profound sadness that the family of Lovelett Sophia Ball announce her passing on October 14, 2022, at the age of 78, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sophie, as she was known by family and friends was predeceased by her parents Frank Scott and Ethel Ball and her sisters Valetta, Louise, Yvonne, Joy and Peggy.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Megan (Luc), her two stepdaughters Michelle and Tricia and her sisters Maxine, Marg, Ellen and her brother Scott.
Sophie loved spending time in her garden and watching the birds. She enjoyed doing renovations in her home and was an avid sports fan. She was best known for her quick-witted humor, fierce determination and generous spirit, but beware when she wielded the wooden spoon. Sophie was a one-of-a-kind woman, and the world will never be the same without her. She would want everyone who loved her to remember her as she was not how her journey ended.
I’m honoring her wishes, Sophie’s cremated remains will be transported back to her place of birth Deer Lake, Newfoundland to be laid to rest with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer society.
“We miss you Mom, our hearts still ache with sadness, and many tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. We will hold you close, within our hearts, and there you will remain, to walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again”
