Biography

The family of James (Guy) Dickins wishes to announce his passing on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, peacefully at home, attended by his children Tim Dickins (Cheryl Furakawa), Sally Dickins-Reibling (Chris) and Angela Pugh (Dennis). Born May 19, 1926 in Oxfordshire, U.K. he was 97 years old.
Predeceased by his wife Aileen (nee Burton), Jim is further survived by two grandchildren, Devon (Laura Pfaff) and Anthea (Jason Yung) and two great-granddchildren, Aria (Pugh-Pfaff) and Artemis (Pugh-Yung).
Jim graduated from Oxford University, BNC, with a degree in Physics in 1950 before emigrating to Toronto with Aileen in 1954. He was for many years Vice President and Director of Manufacturing at Rowntree's Canada before changing careers to become a Commodities Broker with Merrill Lynch, a position which reflected his lifelong interest in finance and the stock market.
Jim was an avid golfer and, in early life, also excelled at Squash and Rugby. He was a respected member of the Markland Woods Golf and Country Club where he won many championships and spent some of his happiest times with close friends and family. In addition to a keen interest in sports, Jim was also a devoted Freemason and served for a time as Worshipful Master of the Unity Lodge in Brampton, Ontario. Good health and longevity, through proper nutrition, were also subjects of special interest as were the works of William Shakespeare. He was a longtime member of the Francis Bacon Society, U.K.

The family requests that donations in Jim's Name be made to the C.N.I.B.
