Jean-Louis Joseph Comeau - Age 62, of Brookside, Hatchet Lake, formerly of Meteghan River, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023. Born in Schefferville, Québec, son of Désiré Comeau and the late Blanche Comeau (Melanson). He took carpentry at Yarmouth Vocational School, and upon graduating, his career started at A.F. Theriault Shipyard. He joined the carpenters union in 1981, contributing to many significant building projects, including the Annapolis Royal Tidal Generating Station, Dartmouth Civic Centre, and Halifax World Trade Nova Centre. For over 25 years, he was employed by LEAD Structural Formwork as a carpenter and foreman. Many will remember him as a beloved friend, a father figure, and a well-respected coworker. Jean-Louis valued family, friendship, positivity, and kindness. He truly lived his life to the fullest, with as many music festivals, camping trips, boating days, and jokes as he could pack in. He is survived by sons Jean-Luc, Serge, and Dominic and their mother, Nancy Fitzgerald; siblings Guy (Connie), Paulette, André (Karen), and Valmon (Anne); partner Janice Comeau-MacDougall; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at the Saraguay House in Purcells Cove, Halifax, at 2308 Purcells Cove Road. A service will be held in Clare at a later date. Donations can be made to the Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue Association.
