Javier "Papa Obet" was born in Torrijos, Marinduque Philippines on December 3rd 1939. He married Nenita Penarubia, July 15, 1941 - June10, 2013, and moved to Canada in 1976. Papa Obet passed away on Friday November 3rd cared for and loved by Josephine Penarubia whom he married in October 2015. Papa Obet is survived by his sons, Michael and Jerome Penarubia, his sisters, Connie Barbara and her children, Antonia Nieva and her children plus many cousins and friends.

Papa Obet was a good man who did the best he could with his own brand of wit and humour. When not enjoying crossword + sudoku puzzles, travelling the world through National Geographic and helping people, he enjoyed great conversations across various topicswith close friends and family. He will be missed by those who shared his love, affection, and whose lives were changed for the better because of him.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated and an intimate gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate his life.
