It is with great sadness that the family of Ian Alexander Mahon announces his passing on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 47.

Ian was predeceased by his grandparents Barney and Catherine Mahon and Scotty and Irene Balfour; his Uncles Andrew and Neil Balfour; and his Aunt Helen Mahon.

Ian is survived by his Mother Jeanne Balfour; his Father Alexander “Sandy” Mahon (Katherine), his Brother Eric Mahon (Lindsay); nephews Liam, Lachlan and Hendric Mahon; his Uncle Richard Balfour; his Aunt Patricia Balfour; Cousins Jillian Armstrong (Benn), Stuart Balfour (Brandi), David Balfour (Jennifer); as well as their families.

Ian had a wonderful big smile, a great sense of humour and a kind heart. He loved his family deeply as well as his Calgary, Regina and Kenosee Lake friends. Through all of Ian’s struggles he stayed in touch with his family and friends, always staying interested in everyone’s lives.

A Celebration of Ian’s Life will be held later this Spring. Donations in Ian’s memory can be made to the Saskatchewan or Alberta Mental Health Services or Ian would love it if you volunteered at a Soup Kitchen as he did this past Christmas Day.
