Biography

Cyril’s family is deeply saddened to announce his unexpected passing. Cyril was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he lived his entire life. From a young age Cyril found that auto-mechanics and machinery were his calling and passion. He was a naturally gifted, and largely self-taught, mechanic capable of fixing and rebuilding engines and such by his mid teenage years. He had a calm and modest demeanour, yet had a rare confidence to repair anything mechanical. He turned these natural talents into his own towing and automotive repair businesses.

Cyril loved daily garage coffee visits from his family and friends, and was the center of his community in this way. He had a life gift in his ability to make friends and build meaningful relationships. He did not like disagreements, often being the mediator with his unique ability to smooth over many situations between people with his calm, sensitive, and forgiving nature. He was a kind hearted soul who held honesty and trust as important life values. Cyril had a quality of knowing and understanding people well, often after meeting them for the first time. He was incredibly generous with his time, always available to assist family, friends, and strangers in need with automotive or housing problems. He never complained or expected anything in return.

Cyril loved the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Maple Leafs, Regina Pats, Rams, and Thunder. He enjoyed watching comedy and action movies with a passion, and could watch shows repeatedly, each time laughing and getting excited as if watching them for the first time. In Cyril’s younger years he built and raced stockcars competitively. He had a deep love of animals and always had a dog companion in his life.

Cyril’s life was positively impacted by some very special people, including his neighbors of 30 plus years, Hardy and Allison Tholl, and children Jordan and Christine; who he held in the highest regard with “never a harsh word spoken.” His loyal and caring friends Glen and Denise, Brenda, Eddy, Wilf, Brodie, Rick, Bonnie, and many others.

Cyril is predeceased by his mother and father (Marlene and James), his life partner Twila, and father-in-law Bob Doan. He is survived by his sisters Kathy (Dennis Looker) and Anna (Ron Looker), brother Sheldon, nephews Ben, Haskel, Thomas, niece Kerina, uncles Bill and Robert Neald, cousins Dean, Dana, Tory, Faye, Barry and families, his mother-in-law Dorothy and brother-in-law Rob (Marquise).
