On Saturday October 21, 2023 at 23:20 hours, our patriarch Benjamin Kop took his final breath here on Earth in the presence of his family and his closest friend Paul Brown. He is predeceased by his parents Roelof (1969) and Mathilda (1992) and his nine siblings.
Benjamin is survived by Trudy and their children Victor (Adriana), Eleonora (John), Juanita (Martin), Bernadine (Sean), and his favourite kid and buddy Ben Jr.
Benjamin was a proud Opa to Titus, Amos, Solomon and many four-legged pets that loved him as much as he loved them.
He was born on May 20th, 1940 during the Second World War on a boat in Leiden, the Netherlands. At the age of 15 years he left home and became a merchant seaman. He and Trudy got married just prior to moving to Canada in 1967. His command of the English language was limited to say the least but with a steadfast determination and only a crate in tow they made the trip to Canada by boat and continued their life in Stratford, Ilderton before settling in Granton, Ontario.
Benjamin was an extremely creative man with various talents. He was gifted in the ‘art of the deal’ as they say and excelled in the practice of price negotiation. He loved carpentry, gardening, cooking, dancing, entertaining and would ‘dress to the nines’ when the occasion demanded.
He will be missed by many family members and friends all across the globe.
The Celebration of Life will be held on November 19th, 2023 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Church of the Ascension. 2060 Dundas Street. London, ON
Kindly join our family in celebrating the life of our loved one gone too soon but never to be forgotten.
