Barry Keating

Oct 28th 1953 — Mar 13th 2024 (70 years)

Biography

It is with heavy hearts we announce that on Wednesday, March 13th, Barry Keating passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Barry’s larger-than-life personality, love of family and friends, and razor sharp wit will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Barry is survived by his wife; Shirley Keating (Snow); daughters, Kelly (Allen) and Kim (Seneil); Grandchildren, Teegan, Colton, and Bayleigh; and sister, Bev Settle (Keating), and honorary sister Deb (Guy). He was an adopted son of Newfoundland, welcomed into the hearts and homes of the Snow family with his marriage to Shirley.

Barry enjoyed fishing when he was able to do so, and continued to tie flies for fishing until right before his admission to hospital. As anyone who knew him can attest, especially his family and neighbours, one of his greatest joys was to help others. Whether it was to lend a tool, or lend a hand, he was always willing to help with whatever problem or project was on the go.

We wish to thank the tireless and dedicated efforts of the ICU & Dialysis unit staff at the Halifax Infirmary. For weeks they did everything they could to not only preserve Barry’s life, but also to keep him comfortable. They were kind, compassionate, and dedicated to their tasks. Thank you to the whole team for their efforts.

We’ll dearly miss Barry. He was our husband, our father, our grandfather (Poppy), our brother, our home improvement foreman, and our friend.

Celebration of life to be held April 6th at Acadia Hall, 650 Sackville Dr, 3pm-5pm
