When considering ease of access after closure, wooden urns stand out as the most convenient option.
Their design typically involves the simple removal of a screw or two for opening and closing. While metal urns generally offer accessibility after closure, it's worth noting that some box-shaped metal urns, known as "snap lock" urns, seal permanently upon closure.
Conversely, ceramic urns often require adhesive sealing to secure the lid, making them less suitable for later access if desired by the family.
A keepsake urn is a small urn that holds a tiny portion of cremated remains, usually between 1-35 cubic inches depending on the design of the keepsake (standard adult urn size holds 200 cubic inches). It's most often used to divide the remains between family and friends.
The micro or mini urn or keepsake has been designed to keep a little ash, some earth from a grave, or a lock of hair, also called 'travel urn' because of its small size. It can also be used to divide the remains between family and friends.
A heart urn is similar to a keepsake - smaller in size, designed to hold less cremated remains than a standard adult size urn.
You should buy an urn based on your preferences, such as size and material, as well as your final disposition choice and budget. You can find out how to pick the best urn for your family by visiting our blog.
You will enter specific information on the "special instructions" section of the check-out page.
We offer flat rate engraving services of $60 per urn.
This means that we engrave directly on the urn.
We engrave on a plate placed on the urn. If engraving on the plate, the urn is not crafted in a way that we can engrave directly on the product.
This option allows you to personalize a vase style urn that can’t be engraved or a porcelain/glass urn. It’s a pendant that hangs around the neck of the urn.
Optional engraving can be done in the fonts listed below.
You select your engraving preferences before adding the item to your bag, and we will order the engraving through our supplier. There will be a proof emailed prior to engraving the urn to ensure satisfaction.
Our engraving is done extremely fast by our skilled engravers. Outside of confirmation of the proof, there are no additional wait times for engraved urns.
Engraving is a personal preference. Some families choose to engrave to add more personalization to the urn.
