Eirene Cremations is thrilled to announce that we have expanded operations, providing a new approach to cremation services for families in Alberta.
We offer a modern approach to funeral arrangements that focuses on honesty, compassion, and transparent pricing. At Eirene, the entire arrangement process can be completed from home, so you can focus on spending time with family and friends after a loss. Once the cremation is complete, the remains are hand delivered to the next of kin or executor with the required paperwork to settle the estate.
In Alberta, the provincial cremation rate has increased from 65.5 per cent in 2010 to 74.7 per cent in 2020 and is projected to reach 78.8 per cent by 2025. With more Albertans moving away from traditional funerals and choosing cremation as their preferred method of final disposition, and an increase in families reaching out to Eirene requesting our services in the province, we recognized that there was a need in the province for a different approach to how funeral services are delivered.
Our services allow families to arrange a cremation without an in-person visit to a funeral home. Our exceptional team is available 24/7 by phone, live chat or email to help families through the arrangement process.
Eirene's operations in Alberta are spearheaded by Al Hari, a fifth-generation Albertan, who is passionate about helping families navigate funeral arrangements and achieve a state of peace as they move forward. From the moment you contact Eirene, through to the delivery of the remains, Al will be there to support you every step of the way.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen the needs and values of Albertans change, says managing funeral director Al Hari. Many families are now looking for cremation followed by a unique memorial or celebration of life that reflects what their loved one cherished. Spearheading Eirene’s operations in Alberta means giving families what they need most after a loss— compassionate care, and peace of mind.
In Canada, the average cremation can cost up to $5,000. However, Eirene’s packages are priced to reduce financial stress during a time of bereavement, while providing exceptional care to each family. We offer two packages, suited to your needs, and the price you see is exactly what you’ll pay— no surprises or hidden fees. Our transparent pricing structure provides you with peace of mind knowing that you’ll only pay for the services you need. Detailed pricing can be seen here.
If you require financial assistance, we can help. We’ll work with you to determine if you qualify for federal, provincial or social assistance funding. We have also partnered with Affirm payments to offer payment plans for our packages. If you are not eligible for Affirm’s payment plan, we will work with you one-on-one to determine a payment plan that is suitable for you.
Arrange from anywhere
At Eirene, our cremation arrangement services allow you to make arrangements online or over the phone, regardless of your location. First, we’ll ask a few questions, ensure your payment is secure, and then our team will take care of the rest. This can all be done from the comfort of your own home, without any trips to a funeral home. Once the required details are provided, we work with our local transfer partner to bring your loved one into our care.
Following this, our dedicated funeral directors complete the required paperwork and the cremation takes place. Once the cremation is complete, your loved one is hand-delivered to your door.
Prearranging provides complete peace of mind for you and the people you love.

Making arrangements with Eirene allows you to:
The word Eirene means a state of peace, originating from the greek goddess Eirene. We chose the name because it reflects the service we want to provide to our families. Eirene also symbolizes the role many women play in arranging end-of-life services and the growing diversity in the end-of-life industry.
I was in a panic after my father became sick suddenly and I needed to make all arrangements for his passing. I had called, emailed etc other places and they did not pick up the phone or message back for a week. I called Eirene, they picked up the phone immediately not only that, they were compassionate and understanding. There is enough stress during a time of sorrow, Eirene eases one less stress. Thank you for the care and respect you showed my Father and I. — April Mansilla
The crematoriums we work with are local, trusted partners. This ensures that your loved one is never far from home and that families who make arrangements with Eirene will receive the highest quality care from licensed professionals in their communities.
Eirene’s team is available 24/7 to provide guidance and answer your questions.
Transparency is paramount, and we go above and beyond the required government guidelines to ensure the continuous, identification of your loved one throughout our entire process.
First, we require and reference a recent photograph of the deceased to visually verify their identity. Second, we use an industry-accepted Chain of Identification document, which is signed and verified by a licensed funeral director throughout the time your loved one is in our care. And, third, you have the ability to view your loved one prior to cremation, as well as the option to witness the cremation if you wish.
Our partners have been involved in the industry for more than 25 years, in multiple provinces. They are in good standing with all regulatory bodies and hold licenses issued by the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board.
By streamlining the process, we are able to minimize our overhead and pass on those savings to our families when they need it most.
Eirene is a Canadian-founded, women-owned, and proudly-independent business. We launched in Ontario in 2020, Nova Scotia in 2022, and Saskatchewan most recently. Alberta is the fourth province where our services will be offered to families. We have been featured in the New York Times, Toronto Star and Saltwire.
Eirene is here to help support families when they need it most. We are available 24/7 via email or phone. To make arrangements, visit our website at https://eirene.ca. You can also send us an email at email@example.com.
